I was saddened to hear recently about Rhodri. We met at Shiplake College in 1990. Although we were in different houses we were in a few classes together and played in the same cricket teams for five years. In our final year we were both in the first XI team which Rhodri captained. I have fond memories of Rhodri both on and off the cricket field and I'm sad we lost contact after our schooldays. My thoughts and prayers are with Rhodri's family and friends. Piers Woodnutt (95S)

Words do not convey the many wonderful qualities Rhodri possessed; his integrity, kindness and trustworthiness are some of his many virtues. Despite only having seen Rhodri periodically, I will miss him. I felt he was a kindred spirit. I admired his zest for adventure, his love of the outdoors, his bicycling through Cuba, his delight in his family. I admired his joy in dancing, - dancing, even, the tango with both skill and pleasure. We are so lucky to have been with him for a while. Rhodri ,my regular partner in the golf team at RPGC ,always a pleasure to play with ,but did you have to use a lob wedge when we only needed to get down in three ,anyway we usually won in the end ! A true gentleman ,so polite ,never coke please ,always “ Please May I have “. I was fortunate to play with three generations ,Dick ,Willy and Rhodri ,who was the best golfer ? But they are all sorely missed . Chuggie

The son of a life long golfing friend we played many times, at the club, in matches for Porthcawl and the Erratics, against the universities and other societies, and in the Brent Knoll Bowl. A younger generation but with similar interests, Rhodri was always the same happy person, devoted to his family, who enjoyed every day and shared that happiness with his friends. Truly a good man of whom to be very proud.

The girls will find as they grow up ,that despite the terrible tragedy of the present they have been born into a very special family,and their Dad was a fine example of the caring,capable and delightfull individuals,who make up this very close family unit, i have had the luck to have known over many years

Vikki, you and I had similar paths to find our Mr Right! I remember when you told me you had started to date Rhodri De Lloyd, the name was so familiar! Dad knew the family and had nothing but glowing reports about them! I knew then that finally you’d found your keeper! Living away we didn’t get to spend loads of time as couples together, but I do remember how happy and proud you always looked by his side! I remember his lovely calm friendly smile, and wow I remember that first dance you both pulled off at the wedding! Blew everyone away, not just because we watched in envy at how amazing you both were! But also it just showed how perfect you were together! He really was a lovely man and as your friends we were so so grateful you chose eachother! Xxxxxx so much love to you! Xxxxx

I didn’t know Rhodri well , but he struck me as a soul who had been here before. Always talented on the golf course , he wore his talent lightly and with unusual grace. One of the most radiant smiles I have ever seen! Sue Dyson
